Privacy Policy
The short version
- You do not need an account.
- Everything you type or choose in the tools (thoughts, worries, plans, options, answers) is handled in your browser. We never receive it.
- We count page visits and a few named actions without cookies, so there is no cookie banner.
- There are no advertising trackers and we sell no data.
What stays on your device
Worry time saves your chosen time and length, your parked worries and a count of worries you have let go, in your browser's local storage under the key overthinking:v1, so the list is there when you come back. The worry tree and the night brain dump add to the same list when you park a worry. “Delete everything” on the worry time page removes it all.
Every other tool saves nothing: what you type is gone when you leave the page. When a worry-time review sends a worry on to the worry tree, its text waits in this tab's session storage until the tree opens, and is removed as soon as the tree reads it. Printing happens in your browser. Calendar files (.ics) are created in your browser and downloaded straight to your device; the daily worry-time reminder contains only the words “Worry time”. If a free-text answer mentions harming yourself, the page shows a list of helplines. That check runs in your browser; we count only that the list was shown, never the words that triggered it. A yes/no note that the list was shown stays in this tab's session storage, so the app announcement stays hidden until you close the tab.
Usage analytics
To see whether the tools are useful, we count page views and named actions such as “tool completed”, “worry parked” or “sheet printed”, with the tool or sheet name. These events never contain what you typed, your answers, options, scores or times. We use PostHog in cookieless mode: nothing is stored on your device for analytics, visits are grouped using a privacy-preserving hash calculated on PostHog's servers, and there is no session recording and no automatic click tracking. The data passes through our own server on its way to PostHog.
App waitlist emails
If you leave your email to hear about the mobile app, we store:
- your email address and the date you signed up;
- which platform (iOS / Android) you chose, that you signed up on this site (not which page), and campaign tags in the link (UTM), if any;
- if our network provider reports it, your country (never your precise location);
- whether you ticked “product updates”, and when.
We never ask what you wrote in the tools, and we don't link your email to the analytics above. We use your email to tell you when the app launches, and send other product updates only if you ticked that box. The legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. A Cloudflare Turnstile check runs when you sign up to stop spam. Our backend and database are hosted by Railway; the website is served by Cloudflare. To get a copy of your data, correct it or delete it, email developyourself.studio@gmail.com.
